Have you invited PAT?
PAT stands for Portable Electrical Appliance Testing and any professional wedding DJ will ensure that their electrical equipment (lighting & audio), along with all associated cables is fully PAT tested on at least an annual basis. To avoid a wedding DJ disaster, ask to see your DJ’s PAT certificates and it would be wise to seek confirmation of this well before your wedding day. This is vital because most wedding venues (especially hotels) will refuse access to any DJ (or other supplier) who cannot produce their PAT certificates. If this happens on the day of your wedding, it might be lights out! DJ’s who don’t PAT test their equipment (and there are plenty of them), leave themselves and your wedding guests exposed to the risks of electrical failure.
Perhaps this seems like an over-the-top wedding DJ tip, but the majority of wedding venues take their electrical health and safety very seriously and are often at liberty to refuse a wedding DJ on this basis. Checking portable electrical appliance testing certificates and asking your wedding DJ to send these to your venue ahead of your big day can avert this all too common route to wedding DJ disaster.
