Bromsgrove Golf Centre - Australian Wedding
Bradley (commercial/wedding photographer) and Kate (Dr), were married at their home near South Sydney in Australia recently and this was their UK wedding reception at the Bromsgrove Golf Centre (Premier Suite). We were initially contacted by Kate’s sister (Jayne), who was taking the lead in the UK to get everything organised and who we had previously met at the Angels Without Wings fundraiser (it’s a small world). It’s unusual for us to DJ at a wedding reception without having contact with the Bride and Groom, but that was the case here, with Brad and Kate taking a last minute break to Paris, thus not having time to meet ahead of their special event.
The Bromsgrove Golf Centre, with it’s upstairs Premier Suite and separate room for catering offers a very intimate wedding reception venue. There is a very neat dance floor, beautiful balcony doors overlooking the golf course, a very smart bar and the benefit of built in multi-media, which we took advantage of to play highlights of Brad and Kate’s wedding back in Australia.
Hedley's Song - upbeat first-dance
Buffet leading the way
Despite very steep rear stairs, we were set-up in less than an hour and ready to play by 7pm, with a buffet leading the way, followed by speeches, cake and a beautiful first-dance. This for us was a particular high-light, not just for this wedding, but for the whole year! First-dances are of course always personal, but so often follow the same genre’s. Kate & Brad’s first-dance was to a delightfully upbeat track by Fingers Mitchell Cullen – Hedley’s Song, and will I am sure feature at many future events – it’s just a delight to listen to! We were able to team up with Peter Lopeman (Wedding Photographer), combining images to remember the event with a video montage (see above), complete with Hedley’s Song, which I am delighted to say has thus far escaped YouTubes filters 🙂
Very many thanks to Kate, Bradley & Jayne for inviting us to DJ at this very happy and upbeat wedding reception. We hope to be invited back to the Bromsgrove Golf Centre again soon.
Reception at Bromsgrove Golf Centre
Happy playlist
For once we were nearly beaten in finding down a track, but this was the all important song for the first dance and failure was not an option! And what a wonderful choice for a first dance – Hedley’s Song by Fingers Mitchell Cullen, an upbeat, positive Australian track with an aborigine flavour. This was followed by Uptown Funk (Bruno Mars), Shut Up And Dance (Walk The Moon) and Can’t Rely On You (Paloma Faith). Then onwards to a good mix of The Script, Avicci, Sweedish House Mafia, Carly Rae Jepson, Rudimental…you get the idea. Fantastic play-list pre-arranged with Brad and Kate
